Swindon’s Brilliant Bus Drivers Announced
Two bus drivers have been recognised as Swindon’s "Brilliant Bus Drivers" after receiving outstanding nominations from passengers during September.
Courtney Sharp from Swindon’s Bus Company and Sam Victory from Stagecoach West were selected from dozens of nominations submitted as part of a campaign celebrating drivers who go above and beyond for their customers.
Courtney, who has been driving buses in Swindon for four years, was praised by one passenger for her friendliness, helpfulness and clear travel advice, helping them feel confident using the bus network. She said she enjoys helping people every day, whether that’s providing directions, recommending the right ticket or simply offering a friendly welcome.
Sam received multiple nominations from customers, who highlighted his excellent customer service, safe driving and willingness to take extra care of passengers throughout their journeys.
The competition formed part of National Catch the Bus Month and was organised by local Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) partners, including Swindon’s Bus Company and Stagecoach West. Nearly 100 drivers received positive feedback, making the judges’ decision a difficult one.
Both winning drivers received a £100 food voucher, while two passengers who submitted nominations won a month of free travel on Swindon's bus network.
Councillor Nick Gardiner, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said the campaign highlighted the important role bus drivers play in helping people travel confidently and independently, while recognising the kindness and professionalism shown every day across the town’s bus network.
Dave Hall, Operations Manager at Swindon’s Bus Company, thanked everyone who took part, adding that the positive feedback provided a huge boost for drivers. Stagecoach West Managing Director Martin Gibbon said Sam’s award reflected the care, professionalism and dedication shown by bus drivers across the region every day.
