Ditch the car this World Earth Day - 22 April.

Appreciate the outdoors this weekend and take the bus to some beautiful areas:

  • Board the 13 or 14 at the bus station to arrive at Coate Water Country Park - a nature reserve that is dog and family friendly.
  • Catch the 22 for a peaceful day in the town gardens.
  • Jump on the 1 or 1A to explore the 260 acre grounds of the historic estate, Lydiard Park.

Our bus fleet is among the newest and cleanest on the south. Over recent years, we have introduced a large number of brand new buses to operate our services across the region. Much of our fleet sports the very latest Euro 6 engine - releasing fewer emissions than the average new diesel car.

A double-decker bus has the potential to take 75 cars off the road, and we want to encourage local people to leave their own vehicles at home for World Earth Day. If we can convert some car users, even for a few journeys, it could make a huge difference to the local environment in the long term, as well as helping ease congestion in the town. If everyone were to switch just two car journeys a month for bus travel, the UK's carbon emissions would be reduced by two million tonnes per year!

Earth Day ties in perfectly with what we are trying to achieve. Buses provide the perfect and affordable solution to reducing air pollution. This is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of our £2 single fare for a more cost-efficient and sustainable mode of transport. You can travel on most of our buses for £2 or less for single journeys as part of the government's fare cap scheme which has been extended until the end of June.

Plan your journey here today.
